Nashville is growing at a record pace and Green Hills is smack dab in the middle of it all. As a result, our little Green Hills street has become quite the thoroughfare and gets an enormous amount of traffic every day. Unfortunately, these vehicles tend to be very reckless and speed down our street with little-to-no caution for pedestrians, residents or our personal property.
We are aware that this is not a new problem, however, it is absolutely getting worse by the second. The property damage and “near misses” are getting much more common and have made doing simple things like getting our mail or pulling out of your driveways, very dangerous. We are actually terrified to allow our children to be in our front yards or ride their bikes in our driveways.
We have done absolutely everything in our power as property owners and residents to help make Oriole Place safer. Unfortunately, none of our efforts have been successful. Oriole Place, as it sits, is simply not designed, engineered for or equipped to handle the number of vehicles that travel it daily.
With the number of risk factors present, it is truly only a matter of time before one of us is actually struck by a vehicle when we are walking our dog, checking our mail, mowing our lawn or making sidewalk art in our driveway with our children. It is honestly a miracle that it has not already happened when you take into account the number of “near misses” that have occurred in the last several years.
We love this city and we love our community. Together, Oriole Place will continue to fight for the assistance that we need to feel safe on our own property.
