Cul-de-sac & dead end street plans

Pros:

Cul-de-sacs and dead end residential streets are safer, more quiet and usually have a lower crime rate due to the limited number of vehicles that travel the road. They are also both known to increase property values, as less traveled high-end residential streets within close proximity to commercial areas are sought after properties.  

Cons:

Dead end residential streets do not create a larger area for vehicles to turn around at the end of the street. Residents of dead end streets or cul-da-sac are limited to one direction when traveling into or out of their street.


One Way Street Plans

Pros:

One way streets cut down on the number of vehicles that travel the street, which in turn provides a safer environment for the residents and pedestrians. A walking/bike/parking lane adds safety for the pedestrians and bikers, as well as, parking on the street.

cons:

Direction of travel is limited. Lowering the speed of which vehicles travel on a one way street may not be effective.

Street with speed humps have a lower number of vehicles that travel the street, which in turn provides a safer environment for residents and pedestrians.

Cons:

Speed humps can be noisy for residents that live on a street that has them. As each vehicle rolls on and off the hump, each axle of the car makes noise. Two axle vehicles create two separate noises when they go over each speed hump. We will be hearing a lot of the “bomp, bomp” as vehicles travel our street.
